OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA – James E. Finch, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Oklahoma, announced the arrest of Roderick Robinson, 30, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Today at approximately 12:30 p.m., an individual carrying a backpack entered the Federal Building, 301 NW 6th, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The individual wanted to go to the Social Security Office. After being advised that he would have to be processed through the security checkpoint, the individual provided two notes to security personnel, left the backpack, and exited the building.
At approximately 1:00 p.m. today, Oklahoma City Police Department received a call from a business at 121 NW 6th Street regarding a suspicious individual inside. Officers responded and took the individual into custody. The investigation determined this person, Roderick Robinson, was the same person who left the backpack and notes at the Federal Building.
The notes stated there was a bomb in the backpack and in a car parked next to the building. Bomb Technicians from Oklahoma City Police Department, Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI are on the scene in an effort to determine if the backpack and/or car contain explosive devices.
Robinson is in Federal custody and faces Federal charges tomorrow related to the incident.
The investigation is being conducted by the FBI and Oklahoma City Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Western District of Oklahoma.
