OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA – Michael B. Ward, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Oklahoma, announced the FBI and Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and/or conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the device found Saturday at Temple Beth Ahaba, 209 S. 7th, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
On Saturday, March 24, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a witness discovered what appeared to be an explosive device. The material was inside cardboard boxes. One of the boxes was located inside a shopping cart while the other was adjacent to it. The device was rendered safe by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad and FBI Bomb Technicians. Ingredients of the device have been sent to the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, Virginia for additional analysis.
Further investigation has revealed the shopping cart may have been near the Temple as of Wednesday, March 21. Some of the components used in the device were cooking oil containers discarded from a local chicken restaurant located in the 3300 block of Okmulgee. The containers were discarded from the restaurant on or after March 18.
The investigation is being conducted by the FBI, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Muskogee Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and/or conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for this explosive device.
