TWO CITY MEN INDICTED FOR CARJACKING AND FIREARMS OFFENSES

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma—John C. Richter, United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma, announced today that MARCUS DEWAYNE OAKES, 20, and DELON ANTOIN BAKER, 33, both of Oklahoma City, have been indicted for a January 17, 2009, attempt to take a 2006 Dodge Charger by force and brandishing a semi-automatic handgun in the process.  Oakes and Martin were also each charged with being prior convicted felons in possession of firearms.  Both men are currently in custody at the Grady County Jail.

If convicted, Oakes and Baker each face up to 15 years in federal prison for the carjacking plus no less than seven additional years if convicted of using a firearm in the process of that carjacking.  In addition, each of the defendants face up to 10 years in prison if convicted for being felons in possession of a firearm.

The public is reminded that the indictment is merely an accusation and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.  Reference is made to the indictment for further information.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Oklahoma City Police Department.  The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Leslie M. Maye and Lori Hines.
