FEDERAL CHARGES FILED IN BOMB THREAT AT OKLAHOMA CITY FEDERAL BUILDING

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma — Federal charges were filed today against RODERICK LAMAR ROBINSON, 30, of Oklahoma City, for making a bomb threat yesterday at the Federal Building, located at 301 NW 6 th  in Oklahoma City, announced John C. Richter, United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma.

According to the complaint and supporting affidavit, at approximately 12:15 p.m. yesterday, a man later identified to be Robinson entered the Federal Building and approached a contract security guard to ask where the Social Security Administration office was located.  He was told that the Social Security office was not located there but in a different location.  About 15 minutes later, Robinson re-entered the Federal Building carrying a black back-pack and handed the guard two notes.  He then dropped his backpack and left the building.  One note indicated there was a bomb in the bag and one indicated a bomb was in a vehicle outside the building.  The Federal Building was then evacuated.  After several hours, law enforcement determined that neither the bag nor the vehicle contained any explosive or dangerous device.  Robinson was arrested approximately an hour later several blocks from the Federal Building.

Reference is made to the criminal complaint attached below for further information.

Robinson appeared this afternoon before United States Magistrate Judge Doyle W. Argo.

If convicted, Robinson faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.  The public is reminded that the indictment is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Oklahoma City Police Department, the Federal Protective Service, and the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office.  The case is being prosecuted by United States Attorney John C. Richter and Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Stephens.
