ENID MAN TO SERVE OVER SIX YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD PORN

 

 

Oklahoma City, OklahomaJames Willis Daniel, Jr., 50, of Enid, Oklahoma, was sentenced last Friday to serve 78 months in federal prison by United States District Judge Joe Heaton for possession of child pornography, announced John C. Richter, United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma.

Daniel was indicted in August of 2008 for possessing multiple videos of child pornography. He pled guilty in August of 2008 to possession of a video involving a two year-old female child engaged in a sexual act. Following completion of his 78 month sentence, Daniel was ordered to serve five years of supervised release and will be required to register as a sex offender. He was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal to begin serving his sentence.

This case was investigated by the Enid Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Robinson and was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
