SECOND MAN SENTENCED TO SERVE 21 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR ATTEMPTING TO STEAL ATM

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma WESTON K. DENT, 28, of Wakita, Oklahoma, was sentenced today by Chief United States District Judge Robin Cauthron to serve 21 months in federal prison for attempting to steal an ATM machine from the First State Bank of Pond Creek and pay $23,718.65 in restitution. 

According to public records, on May 3, 2008, the Enid Police Department responded to a bank alarm triggered at a bank building located in a parking lot in Enid, Oklahoma.  Upon arriving, Enid Police Officers observed a Chevy Blazer backed up to an ATM machine. Dent and co-defendant JARED L. WHEELER, 26, also of Enid, were observed near the truck next to the ATM machine lying on the ground.  Both defendants fled and following a chase they were apprehended by Enid Police. 

On October 22, 2008, co-defendant JARED L. WHEELER, 26, of Enid, pled guilty and was also sentenced to serve 21 months in federal prison and pay $23,718.65 in restitution.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Enid Police Department.  The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lee Borden.
