MARRIETTA MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO RECEIPT OF CHILD PORN AND IS SENTENCED TO SERVE 100 MONTHS IN PRISON

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – John C. Richter, United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma, announced today that Brock Anthony Thurman, 24, of Marietta, Oklahoma, pled guilty to receipt of an image of child pornography and was sentenced to 100 months in prison. 

        In a hearing before Chief United States District Judge Robin J. Cauthron today, Thurman entered his plea of guilty to a one-count Information and admitted he downloaded child pornography from the internet.  In addition to sentencing Thurman to 100 months in prison, Judge Cauthron ordered him to serve a term of supervised release of ten years after his release from prison.  Thurman agreed to give up his laptop computer, printer and related equipment as part of his plea.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In  2006, the Department of Justice launched Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Teresa Black.
