OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA – Michael B. Ward, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Oklahoma, announced the successful inaugural meeting of the Muslim Community Outreach Program held earlier today at the Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism (MIPT).   

     The Muslim Community Outreach Program was initiated by the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) which is comprised of investigators from the FBI, Edmond Police Dept., Oklahoma City Police Dept., Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Midwest City Police Dept., Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, Federal Air Marshal Service,

U. S. Marshal’s Service, Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Secret Service, and Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

          Oklahoma’s economy and community are enhanced by contributions from many different cultures and religions.  The  Muslim community contributes positively not only to the community, but also to law enforcement efforts to protect public safety.  The FBI relies daily on the assistance of our neighbors in the Muslim community in the continuing mission of the FBI to protect the public from the threat of terrorism. 

          Members participating in the outreach program include spiritual and community leaders from Central Oklahoma’s Muslim community, and federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Through training, public forums, and periodic meetings, the program is intended to:
