Other initiatives include the Director's Community Leadership Award. This award recognizes the achievements of individuals and/or organizations who are actively involved in crime, gang, drug and violence prevention and education.
Division Tours The Oklahoma City Division offers a limited number of tours each year. Tour sizes cannot exceed more then 15 people. Written requests must be sent to the Oklahoma City Division 30 days in advance. Tour groups consists mostly of local schools, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts.
Adopt-a-School Program In partnership between the FBI's Adopt-a-School program and the Oklahoma City Public Schools Foundation, the Oklahoma City Division adopted Jacksonville Elementary School and Britton Elementary School in the Oklahoma City area. Citizens' Academy Oklahoma City Division held it's first Citizens' Academy in the Spring of 2003. The goal of the Citizens' Academy is to foster a greater understanding of the FBI's role in the community and to open lines of communication between the FBI and those it serves. Participants learn about the laws, rules, guidelines, and procedures federal investigators must follow; FBI jurisdiction, operations and programs; firearms safety; and investigative techniques. The academies give business, civic, religious, and community leaders an inside look at federal law enforcement in general and the FBI in particular. To date, Oklahoma City has held four Citizens' Academies. Citizens' Academy Requirements: Must be a business, civic, religious, or community leader.
